The Willamette University Animal Law Society is dedicated to providing a forum for education and advocacy for advancing the interests of animals through the legal system.
The Willamette University Animal Law Society aims to deepen the law school and surrounding communities' understanding of animal law in a wide range of issues including, but not limited to: state agency regulations, conservation projects, federal legislation, and institutionalized animal abuse. Members of Animal Law Society build skills such as lobbying for legislation, legal analysis through an animal advocacy and long-term perspective, local activism in conservation and animal issues, and more. Members of Animal Law Society have the opportunity to use these skills in hands-on events including, but not limited to: local volunteer opportunities; local shelter events; animal rights and animal welfare conferences; research projects with lawyers and organizations promoting animal welfare and animal rights; networking with legal community; educational events; and advocacy on behalf of vegetarian/vegan students in our law school.
