Biography
Jonathan joined the Career Management team in October 2017. As the Assistant Director he focuses on student advising, student organizations, graduate employment tracking, and employer relations. In this role he takes a one on one approach with students to make sure they are prepared for and effective in their job search. Jonathan is a member of the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance and enjoys staying up on industry hiring trends to best assist students.
Prior to Willamette University, Jonathan served as the Director of Student Services at a career focused college in Portland. While there he implemented a research based New Student Orientation model which increased student retention. As well, he partnered with academic affairs to create a first year seminar and co-taught the course for several years. His initiatives all impacted student success which culminated in his favorite day of the academic year: commencement! During this time, Jonathan completed his doctorate in organizational leadership; his dissertation research explored the factors that impact the motivation of millennial employees in nonprofit organizations.
Jonathan came to Oregon by way of Washington where he completed his masters in Student Development Administration. While at Seattle University he worked in Housing & Residence Life to gain the foundational skills of advising students and leading teams. Originally from Ohio, Jonathan enjoys the bounty that Oregon provides including wine, outdoors, and music.
