Biography
Sundby holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership for social justice from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. His dissertation explored the impact of regional accreditation on institutional change, especially as it relates to campus climate for diversity. He earned his BA in philosophy and religion with minors in English and math from California Lutheran University and his MA in the humanities with a concentration in philosophy from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining the Willamette community in summer 2022, he worked more than 15 years in a variety of student affairs roles, most recently as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life and First Year Experience at Chapman University where he managed all student housing and undergraduate orientation programs for new students and families.
Sundby is married with three children. Outside of work, he enjoys watching his children grow, learn, and thrive, cooking for family and friends, and playing nerdy board games.
