Study abroad opportunities

Deepen your understanding of international business through a study abroad program. Willamette's MBA program offers two study abroad sessions during each academic year. Locations change each year, allowing students to understand the business world from different perspectives.

  • India, Fall 2024

    Course: GSM 726IG ‘Global Management in India’

    Trip dates: January 5-11, 2025. We will visit New Delhi and Mumbai, the capital and largest city of India, respectively.

    Course options: Choose between two versions of the class to suit your needs:

    • 4-credit version: The class meets on five Saturdays; students help design and plan the trip
    • 1-credit version: The class meets for half of the first Saturday and fully for the final two Saturdays, for an orientation and final debriefing.

    Class dates:

    • Saturday, September 28 (all students; 1-credit students attend first half only)
    • Saturday, October 19 (only 4-credit students)
    • Saturday, November 16 (only 4-credit students)
    • Saturday, December 7 (all students)
    • Saturday, January 25 (all students)
    All classes meet 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. One or two classes may be shorter, depending on progress on projects and other class activities.

    Application deadline: September 13, 2024

    Full program fee deadline: September 20, 2024

    Refund deadline: September 30, 2024 (no refunds after this date)

    Schedule: We will plan to visit six to eight companies and three cultural sites.

    Estimated cost:

    • 4-credit class program fee: $2,250 (assuming a minimum of 15 students)
    • 1-credit class program fee: $2,750 (assuming a minimum of 15 students)
    • Airfare: $1,600 (estimated)
    • Additional Costs: $400 (estimated; typically meals and shopping)
    We cap this program at 24 students.

  • Spain, Spring 2025

    Course: GSM 726IG ‘Global Management in Spain and the European Union'

    Trip dates: March 23-29, 2025. The program will take place in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain.

    Course options: Choose between two versions of the class to suit your needs:

    • 4-credit version: The class meets on five Saturdays; students help design and plan the trip
    • 1-credit version: The class meets for half of the first Saturday and fully for the final two Saturdays, for an orientation and final debriefing.

    Class dates:

    • Saturday, January 18 (all students; 1-credit students attend first half only)
    • Saturday, February 1 (only 4-credit students)
    • Saturday, February 22 (only 4-credit students)
    • Saturday, March 8 (all students)
    • Saturday, April 12 (all students)

    All classes meet from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. One or two classes may be shorter, depending on progress on projects and other class activities.

Details about Willamette’s study abroad MBA programs

  • Course information
    • Overview: GSM 726IG is a 4-credit or a 1-credit, graded course. Credit for this course will count toward graduation requirements. Students choose the 4-credit version or the 1-credit version, depending on their needs and interests.
    • Professors: Gary Knight and Ashley Nixon
    • Prerequisites: One semester of Willamette MBA coursework and good academic and conduct standing required.
    • Tuition: The Program Fee covers the trip cost only and does not include tuition. For the 1-credit class, there is no tuition charge. For the 4-credit class, standard tuition charges will apply.
    • Attendance: The course requires attendance and participation in class sessions prior to and following the trip.
  • Costs
    • Program Fee: Includes in-country travel and transportation; hotel rooms (seven nights); breakfasts and one dinner. The Program Fee will be billed directly to your student account upon confirmation of program participation. Students are separately responsible for airfare, meals not included in the program fee, non-program transportation fees, insurance, etc.
    • Refunds: There will be no refunds after the published date due to the contracts with our study abroad supplier partners.
    • Financial Aid: Financial Aid may cover the program fee and airfare. Please contact Shanan Woods in the WU Financial Aid Office for more information.
  • Passport and visa information
    • You will need a valid passport with an expiration date no sooner than six months after the program dates.
    • We encourage students considering the MBA abroad program to apply for or update their passports at the earliest opportunity.
    • Students are responsible for checking Visa requirements for the destination countries. We can assist you.
