The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides jobs on or off campus to enable students to earn a portion of their college expenses. Your eligibility for the Federal Work-Study Program is determined from financial information you submit on the FAFSA. Your ability to utilize this resource is determined by your academic schedule, job availability and your willingness to work.

Hiring Procedure

Check your eligibility for federal work study by contacting the Office of Financial Aid. Students must work with their school’s placement office to inquire about available positions.

Being Awarded Federal Work Study

Once you have secured a federal work study position, you must complete and submit a Work Study Request Form available on the Forms Page Once processed, the Office of Financial Aid will send you a revised award letter that contains your federal work study award.

Please note that any federal work study you are awarded will reduce the amount of federal loans you are eligible for directly.

Hours and Paycheck

Earnings are paid by the Willamette University Payroll Office following their policies and procedures on the schedule laid out in their payroll calendar. The amount of your Federal Work-Study award cannot be credited to your account or be used in calculating any deferred tuition payment plans.
