Biography
I chose to be a Japanese Studies major because I wanted to connect more with my cultural heritage. Both sides of my family are originally from Japan but we do not participate much with any of the Japanese cultural events that occur in Hawaii. No one in my family speaks Japanese proficiently either, so I wanted to study Japanese to get an idea of how my family would have turned out if my ancestors had not decided to emigrate to Hawaii from Japan all those years ago.
