PhD in Mathematics, University of Kentucky, 1998.

MS in Mathematics, University of Kentucky, 1995.

BS in Physics and Mathematics (double major), Linfield College, 1993.

I attended Linfield College, where I earned a BS double-majoring in math and physics (with a minor in music). In my senior year, I fell in love with abstract algebra and decided to pursue a career in mathematics. After 5 years in Kentucky for my MS and Ph.D. (mathematics), I taught in Texas for five years at Stephen F. Austin State University. When the opportunity arose to come home to Oregon, I jumped at it, and I have been at Willamette since 2003. My wife and I have been married for nearly 29 years and have two delightful kids. I love reading, music, college sports, and, of course, doing mathematics with fun people! My most memorable adventures include rafting down the upper Gauley River in West Virginia (in Class V+ conditions!), visiting Thailand with my wife in 2005 (pre-children!), and raising two children (ongoing...).

Most of my research is in the area of Graph Theory these days, although I also work with matroids and other interesting things that come my way. Mostly, I love working with students and colleagues on whatever I can!
