How do I incorporate sustainability, justice, and/or equity into the courses I teach?
I teach a course entitled Psychology for Sustainability that counts towards the Psychology Major, and is also available as an elective for students in other majors (there are no prerequisites for the course). I have taught this or a related course for approximately 15 years. I use the text which I co-authored; information including a table of contents is available here. I also include units on sustainability in my Intro to Psych, Psych of Learning, and Biopsychology courses, and at times have offered senior seminars on related topics.
How does my research advance sustainability, justice and/or equity?
My research program for the last 17 years has focused on a) the pedagogy of integrating psychology and environmental sustainability, and b) the effects of toxic chemicals (e.g., endocrine disruptors) on brain development and function. I have published many journal articles on both topics. Additionally, I have co-authored the last 3 editions of the textbook mentioned above and am the co-author of a website of instructor resources for integrating psychology and environmental sustainability (http://teachgreenpsych.com/)
What collaborations would I be particularly interested in?
I'm interested in exchanging guest lectures with colleagues.
