Biography
Austin is originally from Memphis, Tennessee. He has worked all over the country in various capacities such as costume designer, associate/assistant costume designer, wig designer, wig master, fabric shopper, and artistic collaborator on new works. These credits include the Kennedy Center, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Signature Theatre, Northern Stage, Opera Columbus, Cumberland County Playhouse, Arena Stage, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Constellation Theatre, Ohio Light Opera, Studio Theatre, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Imagination Stage, Maryland Opera Studio, Stagedoor Manor, Emory & Henry College, St. Louis Repertory Theatre, Playhouse on the Square, Opera Memphis, Porthouse Theatre, Memphis School of Music, Hattiloo Theatre, and Tennessee Shakespeare Company.
While Austin relishes in the challenge of getting to revisit and revamp conventional classics to make them fresh, new, and exciting, he particularly enjoys designing new and innovative works created by or featuring underrepresented groups. Austin always appreciates the opportunity to work on projects that push the artistic boundaries of costume design and performance art. Austin is skilled in the art of digital rendering using Procreate and Photoshop as well as traditional media for costume design.
