GERM 241 (IT; 4th Sem Lang Req) Nineteenth Century German Literature in Translation (1)

In this course, major German literary works and genres of the nineteenth century will be discussed and analyzed in their cultural and social setting, including Goethe’s “Faust,” dramas by Schiller, Büchner and Hauptmann, as well as narratives by Goethe, Kleist, Keller and Fontane. Representative poetry and their stylistic features will be discussed.
