This year, faculty from CLA, AGSM and the College of Law are invited to submit proposals focused on improving student retention, persistence and timely graduation rates through the implementation of new and innovative projects and strategies. Proposals could include researching new concepts or implementing proven student success methodologies such as peer or faculty-based mentoring programs, or innovative delivery strategies for tutoring and other academic services. Up to $60,000 will be made available for meritorious grant proposals as determined by the President, upon consultation with the appropriate dean at each school.
Eligibility, Guidelines and Evaluation Material
Proposals should be for activities related to faculty and curriculum development or improvement and be aligned with and advance the goals and objectives expressed in our strategic plan. (NOTE: Individual research projects should be directed to the Atkinson Fund summer grants program.)
All proposals should include: (1) a cover sheet containing the title for your grant proposal and a list of the participants directly involved in the project, including a primary contact person; (2) a Project narrative that includes a description of the student success or retention issues, presentation and description of any data that support the identification of the issue, and a description of what is being proposed, including the project timeline and anticipated outcomes, and; (3)a project budget, including the total dollar amount requested and itemized expenses. (3) Click on “Joinable Sites” and search for “Presidential Discretionary Fund”. (4) Click and join the “Presidential Discretionary Fund” site. (5) To upload your proposal, click on “Submit” in the Project Tools list (left navigation bar). (6) Click on “Add Attachments” to upload your file. (6) If you need to edit or resubmit your proposal prior to the stated deadline for submissions, you can easily do that by clicking on the "add/remove attachments" button and click “Resubmit.”
