Bearcat Cavern, 2nd floor of Putnam University Center
The purpose of this summit is to invite the participation of policymakers, activists, community organizations, Department of Corrections staff, faculty and interested students to engage in finding solutions using restorative justice principles (broadly understood) to make communities safer and to transform offenders—the vast majority of whom will leave prison. The Summit is designed to engage multiple perspectives and to form a set of working groups to brainstorm, plan, and create action items for reform. We are working on: Helping Children with Incarcerated Parents; Access to Education; Re-entry and transition to communities; Ending Life Without Parole; Expanding Second Look; Improving Visitation for families; and Creating a Peace Studies Program behind bars. Through our joint WU/OSP class, we benefit from the first-hand knowledge of incarcerated men. They have tremendous insight about how to create a more productive system and how to bring about the transformation of men who have committed serious crimes.
Parking Information—Free parking is available for the first 14 cars in the visitor lot on the corner of Bellevue and Winter. If you park here you will stop at the guardhouse, let them know you are with the Restorative Justice Summit and show identification. Once these spaces are full you will find metered parking along State Street.
