Amadou Fofana wins grant for documentary project

by Patricia Alley,

Together with professor Josh Gibson at Duke University, professor Amadou Fofana from Willamette's French and Francophone Studies Department will undertake a collaborative documentary project on African cinema. The steering committee for Emerging Humanities Networks approved the full budgetary request of $45,200.

In his award letter, professor Srinivas Aravamudan noted that "members of the committee are excited at the prospect of a teaching tool that will be useful at Willamette, at Duke, and at other institutions teaching African film ... and they hope that you will be able to engage with university partners in western Africa in the development and for distribution."

During his fellowship year at Duke, Fofana is affiliated with the Documentary Film Center and the French and Francophone Studies Center.
