For Domestic Students (U.S. Citizen and Permanent Resident)

Insurance Requirements

Willamette University requires that all degree seeking half time or more domestic students carry medical insurance coverage comparable to that offered through the school's comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan. You will automatically be enrolled in the PacificSource Health Plan Policy (2017-2018 Academic Year) and charged through our student accounts department at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semester.

Students with other medical insurance that meets the criteria of comparable coverage may submit an online waiver request each academic year in the Fall. The deadline to submit that online waiver for the 2017-2018 academic year is September 11, 2017 (5pm). 


*Enrollment/waivers for eligible students meeting the corresponding credit hours is/are annual and will apply for the entire 2017-2018 policy year. Students who waive/enroll Fall 2017 semester are choosing to waive/enroll for both Fall and Spring Semester (if eligible both Fall and Spring semester based on credit requirements), the opportunity to waive/enroll will NOT be provided again in Spring 2018 semester; Spring open enrollment and waiver period is only applicable to new incoming students or students NOT enrolled in classes Fall 2017 semester. Late enrollment or waiver requests will not be accepted, no exceptions. 


Note: Students who are graduating, drop below half time, or not continuing their course studies paying tuition to Willamette Spring 2018 semester will no longer be eligible for the Willamette student insurance plan spring semester. Coverage will terminate January 5, 2018 for students not continuing or dropping below half time.

Waive and/or Decline

If You Do Not Have Insurance

*Instructions on How to Print Your PacificSource Health Plan Insurance ID Card will be added closer to the August 1, 2017 effective date. The information below is Instructions on How to Print Your Aetna Student Health Insurance ID Card for the 2016-2017 Academic Year. 

If you do not have health insurance or your coverage does not meet the criteria for comparable coverage to the WU plan no action is required. You will be automatically enrolled in the Willamette plan each semester you are eligible, and your student account will be charged. Students can visit the Aetna site to print Permanent ID Cards on August 1, 2016. For more information on the Willamette sponsored health plan, including benefits and costs see the downloadable brochures to the right on this page.

Instructions to Print Your ID Card:
  • Go to the Aetna Student Health website
  • In the purple box click on Willamette University
  • Click on Print Your ID Card
  • Type in your Willamette ID Number and Date of Birth

Dependent Insurance

*Instructions on How to add Dependent Insurance with PacificSource will be added closer to the July 24, 2017 open enrollment date. Open enrollment for adding Dependents onto the PacificSource Health Plan Policy will be July 24, 2017 - September 11, 2017 (5pm). The information below is Instructions on How to Add a Dependents on the Aetna Student Health Insurance Policy for the 2016-2017 Academic Year. 

Students with dependents may elect to provide their dependent with insurance coverage as well. For Fall 2016 Semester the dependent insurance can be purchased directly through the Aetna website between July 25, 2016 and September 12, 2016 (5pm).
