Strategic Leadership, Collaborative Vision

Willamette University’s leadership team is dedicated to fostering a vibrant academic environment that aligns with our mission and values. Led by President Stephen E. Thorsett and supported by the Board of Trustees, our leaders work collaboratively to set the strategic direction of the university, ensuring our continued growth and success.

Office of the President

The President serves as Willamette’s chief executive officer, overseeing academic and administrative functions and implementing the university’s strategic plan. Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the President collaborates closely with trustees, faculty, and staff to uphold the university’s mission and achieve its long-term goals.

The Board of Trustees is Willamette’s governing body, providing guidance and strategic oversight. With a diverse membership of up to 60 volunteer leaders from various industries, the board is committed to ensuring the university’s financial health, supporting academic excellence, and stewarding our endowment for future generations. The Board meets three times a year, alongside faculty, student representatives, and senior administrators to drive forward-looking policies and initiatives.

Willamette’s leadership team includes the President, Provost, Vice Presidents, and Deans who bring a wealth of experience and expertise. Together, they guide Willamette’s colleges and administrative units, creating a dynamic, student-centered educational experience that empowers students to thrive.
