April 12, 2022
Dear Willamette community,
Tomorrow, April 13, marks Willamette University’s Student Scholarship Recognition Day (SSRD), an event held each spring since 2001 on the Salem campus to celebrate the scholarship and creativity of Willamette students. Undergraduate scholarship is an opportunity for students to engage in hands-on research to produce a presentation, paper, or creative piece that can lead to new knowledge, improve our ability to solve problems, or create a new theory or artistic performance.
The students whose work will be on display tomorrow have worked directly with faculty members as research assistants or on student/faculty collaborative projects, while others have designed and conducted their own research during summer break or throughout their senior year for a thesis or capstone research project.
As a way of honoring the extraordinary scholarly accomplishments of our students, regular classes on the Salem campus will not be held tomorrow. If you are unsure if you are required to attend your classes tomorrow, please contact your instructor(s) for more information.
This year’s program of scholarship and performance highlights Willamette students’ cutting-edge research and deep analysis of the challenges and opportunities of this moment in history. I invite you all to join in the discussions and presentations.
Non nobis solum,
Steve
