MLS Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Masters of Legal Studies (MLS) program will master self-selected content areas of foundational public and private law, including contract law, torts, property, criminal law, constitutional law, and other specialized areas. After graduation, MLS graduates, as non-lawyers, will be able to apply the content they have learned in professional settings that require involvement of legal or regulatory frameworks.  Learning outcomes will vary in content among graduates of the MLS program, but all graduates will have a firm grasp of the theoretical, policy-oriented, and practical dimensions of their chosen basic legal topic areas. Further, by completing a significant writing project, MLS graduates will have a demonstrated ability to research and write about legal topics.
