Curriculum

There are three levels in the Leadership for Managers program to be taken in order: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Badges. Each level builds on management practices, helping participants effectively manage and lead their teams. You can join a subsequent cohort and do not need to complete all three badges in one academic year.

  • Bronze-Level Badge (Modules 1-6)

In the bronze-level program, we set the stage for your lifelong learning in the new world of work. We'll  cover how to approach managerial situations from three different perspectives (strategic, political, and cultural lenses) and focus on the diverse workforce.

  • Silver-Level Badge (Modules 7-12)

In the silver-level program, we explore an expanded set of critical skills required to manage and be managed. Expect to cover topics such as teamwork, motivation, decision-making, data analytics, processes, projects, and talent.

  • Gold-Level Badge (Modules 13-18)

In the gold-level program, we focus on broader organizational issues to develop your management skills. We'll discuss topics such as performance management, day-to-day management, change, ethics, and self-management.

Program Outcomes

How Our Program Works

Our lessons are based around the management book, Be(Come) an Awesome Manager: The Essential Toolkit for Impact Leadership. We offer three program levels, each lasting six weeks. Program levels take place in October-November, January-February, and March-April. Build real-world skills that can help you become a better leader, manager, and effective employee.

  • Flexible Education

We deliver a hybrid HR learning experience through self-study, a series of six online classes, and practical applications. We expect a commitment of three hours a week: one hour for preparation, one hour for the webinar, and one hour for practical application.

  • Supportive Environment

Our program offers small class sizes for teamwork and networking. We have a maximum of 25 learners per cohort to ensure students get valuable feedback and coaching from the instructor. We use a fluid learning model to develop your soft skills and adapt to the needs of the group.

Costs

The cost is $599 for a six-week class and includes all resource materials through our learning portal. Willamette University alums, Global HR Consortium, and The HR Roundtable member companies can enroll at $499.
