Willamette University’s Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program is a one-year master’s program designed for professionals whose careers require a deep understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks. The MLS program is ideal for those looking to enhance their legal knowledge without pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD).

How to Apply for the MLS Program

To be eligible for the MLS program, all candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Admission decisions are based on a comprehensive review of your academic record, professional experience, and commitment to the MLS program.

  • Application Process

All MLS applicants must apply through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), which handles the electronic application process for Willamette's School of Law. For detailed instructions on how to submit your application, please visit the LSAC MLS website.

  • When to Apply

Applications for the MLS program are reviewed on a rolling basis, and decisions are made as applications are received. However, due to limited seat availability, we encourage prospective students to apply as early as possible to ensure the best chance of admission.
