Willamette's orchestral concert band is joined by special guests, the University Chamber Orchestra, presenting songs from the classics to the modern! Selections include Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Holst's memorable "Jupiter" from The Planets, and Rob Grice's vibrant 21st Century Overture.

USAF Golden West Winds bandGolden West Winds, a traditional woodwind quintet, is a component of The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. Composed of five world class musicians, Golden West Winds performs a variety of styles of music from classical to contemporary. Located at Travis AFB, CA the ensemble is committed to representing and supporting Air Force and Air Mobility Command initiatives through presenting public concerts, educational masterclasses, supporting Air Force recruiting initiatives, and connecting with communities throughout the Western United States. These performances provide a connection to local communities by inspiring young audiences, honoring veterans, and communicating the Air Force story.

The unearthly ensembles and creepy choirs of Willamette’s Music department, come back from the dead!

We welcome you back into our concert hall — by scaring you back into your seats! Willamette University brings a sequel to its Hauntcert series, a collaboration of the creepy, spooky and kooky music of Hallowe’en, Dia de Los Muertos, and other end-of-October celebrations. Costumes are encouraged for this family-friendly event!

22-year-old piano virtuoso Umi Garrett will light up our concert stage in Hudson Hall!

Beginning piano lessons at age 4, she was already in the spotlight by age 8 with her performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Performances include some of the world's major venues: Carnegie Hall, the Boston Pops, and stages in China, Latvia, Italy, Hungary, and Japan. A recent graduate of the Julliard School, Umi's awards include 4th prize at the 2020 National Chopin Competition and 1st prize in Juilliard's concerto competition. A long-running tradition, seen by many as the official beginning to the holiday season in Salem. Join us in the beautifully-decorated Hudson Hall, an opportunity to slow down and enjoy a moment of peace and beauty amidst the fast pace of the holiday season.

This year's program will feature timeless choral works and songs for the season performed by Willamette's Voce and Chamber choirs, along with traditional carols sung together with the audience. 

This Salem holiday tradition typically sells out, so be sure to get your tickets early!

Tickets:  $10 for general admission. Free to Willamette University and PNCA students.

A new opera theatre work about the immigrant experience in the U.S. This one-act opera blends Chinese folk tunes and Chinese opera traditions with western operatic tradition to provide a compelling exploration of a timely topic-the complexity of social dynamics inherent in notions of resilience, race, solidarity, immigration, and settlement challenges.

Pre-concert talks precede each performance: Feb 4 at 6:30 pm, and Feb. 5 at 1:00 pm.

One-Log Bridge is commissioned by Willamette's University Chamber Orchestra & University Concert Band.
