MS in Data Science Application Requirements

Your application must include the materials below:

Use the online application to submit your general information and application materials. You can save your work and return anytime.

You may upload unofficial transcripts for an initial admission review. If you are admitted, you will be required to submit official transcripts from each institution previously attended. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution to Willamette University.

Provide the names and contact information for two people who can speak to your academic readiness, leadership, and character (for example: professors, supervisors, mentors, or project leads). Recommendations from family members are not accepted. Your recommenders will receive a link to submit their recommendation.

Include employment (if any), internships, leadership, research, community involvement, awards, co-curriculars, and notable achievements.

Tell us why you want to pursue an MS in Data Science now, what you want to do next, and how Willamette fits your goals. Helpful details include your academic preparation, your interest in data science, and what you hope to learn through the program.

Test scores are optional. You may choose to submit scores if you think they add helpful academic context to your application.

Completion of at least one college-level statistics class, either in person at the undergraduate level, or as an online course prior to enrollment.

Tuition & Scholarships

All applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships during the admission process. Scholarship awards are announced in the admission decision letter.

Deadlines

  • December 10: Early Action Deadline
  • January 15: Priority 1 and 3+1 Deadline
  • March 10: Priority 2 and International Deadline
  • May 15: Final Deadline

We will continue to accept applications after the final deadline only if space is available.

Classes begin in August 2026.
