Prospective student campus tours resume this week

by Office of Admissions ,

Willamette University

To continue safely connecting with students during their college search, Willamette’s undergraduate Office of Admission has resumed in-person campus tours.

The decision was approved by the Reopening Operations Committee and takes into consideration all state and federal guidelines and recommendations.

Although tour procedures have already undergone extensive changes this year to adapt to safety requirements — such as social distancing, mask usage and frequent sanitization — the university has made one significant change.

For the spring semester, the university is limiting its outdoor-only tours to students who plan to enroll in fall 2021 and a maximum of three guests. Students who intend to enroll later are encouraged to visit virtually.

Campus tours require masks to be worn at all times, and 6 feet of physical distancing will be observed between visitors and any Willamette community member, including the student ambassador during the campus tour and the admission professional staff.

Visitors check-in from their car and meet campus staff outside. If any person in the party can’t pass the health and wellness questions during check-in, the entire party must leave campus and reschedule the visit.

Visiting a campus in-person can be a big factor in a student’s final college decision, and we want to provide the opportunity in the safest way possible. Prospective students might not be able to see into all of our buildings or eat a meal in Goudy, but we can show them the warmth of our community, even from 6 feet away.
