Deans Council

Chair: Carol Long, Provost and Senior Vice President

Purpose: The Deans Council meets bi-weekly to share information and to collaborate on University projects and issues.

Membership: Provost, Deans of all schools, VP Student Affairs


Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

Chair: Emilio Solano, Assistant Provost for Institutional Equity and Community Engagement

Purpose: The committee’s charge is to actively promote awareness of, and a shared commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout Willamette University. It will serve as a coordinating body, connecting faculty, staff, and students across the university in order to avoid the duplication of efforts, and to help develop resources and strategies in our ongoing and collective effort to make Willamette a more equitable institution.

Membership: Faculty/staff and student representatives from each college as well as university representatives engaged in DEI related work across the university


International Advisory Committee (IAC)

Chair: Kris Lou, Director of International Education

Purpose: The International Advisory Committee (IAC) is a university-wide committee that is charged with providing advice and recommendations regarding Willamette University’s international strategy, policies, and initiatives. The IAC’s goal is to strengthen the University’s international efforts 1) as manifested in mobility, curriculum, enrollment, engagement, risk management, and adherence to regulatory policies; 2) as they relate to all WU Schools & Colleges and all community members (students, faculty, and staff).

Membership: Deans, VP Enrollment Management, VP Student Affairs, Associate Provost for Academic Finance, Executive Director of Career Initiatives, Faculty, International Education Staff


Sustainability

Chair: Ruth Feingold, Dean, College of Arts & Sciences

Purpose: To advocate for creative thinking and thoughtful engagement around sustainability at Willamette; to facilitate the successful implementation of sustainability initiatives on campus; and to promote learning outcomes related to sustainability from the perspective that these outcomes are integral to all curricular, co-curricular, and operations & campus planning at Willamette University.

In advancement of this charge, the Sustainability Committee will focus broadly on assessing and advancing (1) sustainability in the curriculum, (2) campus and community engagement in sustainability initiatives and programming, (3) operations and campus planning issues as they relate to promoting and enabling a more sustainable campus and community, and (4) providing a broader perspective to assess where better integration across each of these areas is possible.

Membership:

  • One faculty and one student representative from each of the schools (AGSM, CAS (1-2 students), Law, PNCA) with interest in integrating social, economic, and environmental sustainability in curriculum at Willamette University.
  • One staff from Student Affairs with interest in engaging Willamette students broadly in sustainability efforts on campus.
  • Coordinator of Zena, Greenhouse, & Land-Based Learning
  • Director of the Center for Sustainability and Environmental Justice
  • Vice President for Finance and Treasurer (or designee)
  • Provost designee (chair)
