Panopto is the supported lecture capture service at Willamette. It is available to all departments and schools. The Panopto recorder is installed on teaching station computers in technology-equipped classrooms and can easily be installed on faculty office and personal computers the first time it is accessed via WISE. WITS staff are available to provide installation assistance, hands-on training and ongoing support to Panopto users.
Panopto can be used to record full-length in-class and pre-class lectures as well as short learning modules and lecture follow-ups.
Panopto is integrated with WISE to provide course-based authentication and authorization to create and view recordings. To use Panopto, add the Panopto tool to your WISE site by selecting Site Info > Manage Tools > External Tools (bottom of the page). Click on "Panopto" in the Course Tools list on the left site of the course site to launch the cloud-based Panopto application and display the Panopto site that matches your WISE site. Use the "Browse" dropdown list to display all the recordings in all your courses.
Zoom and Panopto
When recorded to the cloud, your recorded Zoom sessions are automatically copied into the Panopto environment in WISE. Why? Panopto has unlimited storage...something Zoom does not have...and it works as an excellent archive repository for course recordings done in Zoom AND Panopto. Just add the Zoom tool to WISE, use it to set up your Zoom course session meetings, and you're all set!!
When recorded to your local hard drive, you can upload Zoom recordings into Panopto manually. Just open Panopto, click Create, and click Upload Media. You'll find your zoom recordings in your Documents folder, inside the Zoom folder, and in time/date stamped folders within the Zoom parent folder. You may want to re-name the file to something that makes more sense before uploading.
