When Music and Computer Science double major Ariel Todoki BA ’18 couldn’t find an app that could help her grow as a musician, she decided to make her own. From there, she discovered a passion for ethical hacking.

At Willamette, cooperation across academic departments gives students opportunities to pursue meaningful research. Faculty from several departments worked together to provide a unique research trip to Scotland for a group of students.
Willamette students take their interdisciplinary work outside the classroom. The student-led Castaway WU club launched the Mill Creek Research Project which uses data to study the water quality of Salem’s watersheds and, with the support of over 200 volunteers, cleans up local water bodies.
Every spring, the Willamette community comes together to celebrate the research and creative work of our students. This is an opportunity for students to showcase how they incorporated different disciplines into their work.
The College Colloquium at Willamette is an intellectually dynamic, discussion-based course that encourages active participation, intellectual freedom, and close relationships between students and faculty, serving as the foundation for students' academic journeys.
