Finding her calling
Business economics major, Spanish minor. Dani has combined her two great loves: coffee and business. (Yes, she worked at The Bistro). She opened her first coffee place in Seattle in 2005 and now has three locations. (See www.fuelcoffeeseattle.com).
In 2008, she opened a wholesale pie company called High 5 Pie (www.high5pie.com) and in late 2010 opened a retail shop where she serves her Grandma Molly's all-butter crust recipe in sweet and savory deep-dish pies. Both Fuel Coffee and High 5 Pie have been featured in national magazines, and High 5 Pie was featured on the Cooking Channel.
"Tall Skinny Bitter: Notes from the Center of the Coffee Culture" was published by Sasquatch Books in 2009 and she has a cookbook coming out this fall called Cutie Pies, which features some of her favorite recipes from High 5 Pie. She also sponsors an annual fundraiser, Fuel the Cure, in October to fight breast cancer. In 2010 she was recognized as one of Puget Sound Business Journal's Forty under Forty.
