Early Arrival/Late Stay

Early Arrival

Willamette University has many demands on its housing accommodations during the summer months including major residential renovations, repairs and general maintenance, scheduled events, and hosting guests for summer conferences. Preparing the residence halls, apartments and sororities for occupancy requires many hands and extra hours. Our facilities staff works hard to prepare the campus for your arrival and will have your room/apartment ready for occupancy by the start date of your housing agreement. Students requesting early check-in before their assigned arrival date must apply for a housing agreement extension.  If approved, the cost is $100 per night.

In order to facilitate Jump Start programs, Opening Days and residence hall check-in, as well as to get ready for regional athletic competitions, a limited number of students are pre-approved to arrive on campus when their training/pre-orientation program begins. Students participating in an early program will be registered by and receive check-in day/time instructions from their coach/program coordinator. Students who arrive early without permission from an early program coach/program coordinator are responsible for their own accommodations.

  • Wednesday, August 22, 2018.  New students are welcomed to Willamette University for our Opening Days program. Events during Opening Days are designed to help students enter into college life at Willamette and are exclusive to those students.
  • Saturday-Sunday, August 25-26, 2018.  Returning students are welcome back to campus to check-in and move back into their residence halls. The Housing office will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, August 27, 2018.  First day of College of Liberal Arts classes for the fall 2018 semester.

Late Stay

The check-out deadline for Spring semester, 2018 is noon, Wednesday, May 9, 2018.  Students who have a need to be on campus after 12:00 noon on May 9th, must meet with their Area Coordinator by Friday, May 4th to request an extension.  Extensions are not guaranteed.  If granted, the cost is $100 per night.  Exceptions are Commencement participants. Students participating in a late stay program (spring athlete competing, commencement band, volunteer) will be registered with Housing by their coach/program coordinator.
