Our Arts, Technology, and Multimedia Minor

Learn the principles of digital technology and discover ways to innovate traditional art. Develop a creative style with a unique aesthetic and technique.

Our Faculty
Our faculty are active members of the tech and art world. They’ve engaged with mixed media, created digital art, and can even offer mentorship about video game design. Learn from professionals experienced in art and technology.

Curriculum

Explore courses in art history, computer science, and communications to develop an understanding of modern media. Focus on both technical and creative skills and learn how to critically examine multimedia works. Consider the potential uses of different media elements and strive for innovation.

  • CCM 261 Media, Technology, & Society

    Examine a dynamic media environment, with a focus on digital technologies. Investigate the relationship between media, technology, and society, and develop skills for effective, ethical engagement with contemporary media.

  • ARTH 376W History of Photography

    Investigate moments from the invention and development of the medium of photography in Europe and the United States. This course covers its inception in the the nineteenth century to its digital age in the late-twentieth century. Historical debates surrounding photography as both an art and a commercial enterprise ground discussions in issues of popular culture as well as aesthetics.

Program Requirements

Students pursuing an Arts, Technology, and Multimedia Minor will need to complete the following:

  • At least four courses focused on the use of technology in creating artistic works.
  • Two courses from one departmental area. At least one must be at or above the 300 level.
  • One course from each of the 2 other departmental areas
  • One additional course
  • No more than 2 courses may be in a single department.
