Curriculum

We are committed to offering courses that delve deep into specific STEM and business topics, equipping students with the skills and experience they need to thrive in the modern workplace. Our full-time MBA program develops skills to apply and interpret data for strategic decision making.

  • GSM 6004: Digital E-Commerce and Analytics

    Compete in the Google Online Marketing Challenge and gain hands-on experience running keyword ad campaigns for real organizations. This STEM MBA course covers keyword planning, funnels, A/B testing, and touchpoint attribution. With a quantitative focus, assignments include statistical analyses like t-tests and regression, preparing you for the evolving digital marketing landscape.

  • GSM 6023: Models for Choices and Forecasts

    Build on core data analysis skills by exploring qualitative and time-series data, which are essential for forecasting in business and government. This course introduces tools for analyzing dynamic and limited data, expanding insights from metric data to broader challenges in decision-making and modeling.

Program Requirements

Students will complete their degree over the course of two years. In addition to all graduation requirements for the full-time Early Career & Career Change MBA, students must complete 36 STEM core and elective courses.

A STEM MBA program combines both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on STEM disciplines. Our program is designed to equip students with leadership, management, and STEM skills. It allows students to merge technical expertise with business acumen, preparing them for leadership roles in organizations that rely on data.

Both programs share similarities, but they cater to different career skills and professional goals.

The STEM MBA program is a single-degree program that takes place in Atkinson Graduate School of Management. It emphasizes quantitative tools embedded in management-specific contexts. The goal is to prepare for management careers in organizations that utilize data analysis and technology.

The Master's in Data Science/MBA program is a joint degree program, hosted by both Atkinson Graduate School of Management and the School of Computing and Information Systems. It focuses on coding and preparing students for roles within data science exclusively.

Not all MBA programs are STEM degrees. However, some MBA programs can be classified as a STEM program.

At Willamette, we offer two avenues to focus on STEM during your education. You can choose our STEM MBA program or you can consider our MBA with a concentration in STEM. Our MBA curriculum highlights technological analytical skills, management skills, and practical hands-on learning opportunities.
