WITS launches new virtual private network

by Marketing & Communications,

If you’re working off campus and need to access Willamette’s campus-only internet services, you can now take advantage of a new virtual private network (VPN) launched by WITS.

Available to all full-time employees, the VPN equips remote devices with a secure connection. This allows people to access departmental network shares and internal web services that were previously unavailable off-campus.

To utilize the VPN, employees must install the GlobalProtect VPN client software — available for Mac, PC, iOS and Android — on devices, including university-issued laptops, from which they will be accessing the campus network. Users’ computers and devices must be running a supported operating system, firewall and antivirus software.

Employees will not need to activate the VPN to access the resources they already use off-campus, such as email, Google Drive, Workday and WISE.

GlobalProtect VPN client is configured and ready to go. Setup instructions are available at willamette.edu/go/vpn.

For more information, email the WITS Help Desk, call 503-372-6767 or speak to your user services consultant.
