What is Baccalaureate?

Contact: Kimberly E Griggs

An explanation of what Baccalaureate entails.

Baccalaureate is a ceremony of celebration and reflection on the communal journey of the graduating class. At Willamette, the service is planned by senior students, supported by the University Chaplain, and created to be inclusive, so that students and families of all faith traditions, spiritual orientations, and world views feel welcomed, engaged and connected. With a variety of readings, music, and reflections the ceremony is meant to honor and celebrate the graduates. The purpose of the service is to express gratitude to students, families, and all those who have influenced the graduates.
