Willamette University Alumni to perform a commemorative concert for former employee Mike Bergh.

Mike Bergh, Willamette's longtime and beloved former Stage Manager passed away in February of this year. Nearly 70 alumni from the Willamette University Choral Program and several members of the Willamette Master Chorus will perform a Commemorative Concert to honor and uplift Mike's life on Sunday, June 12 at 12:30 pm at Willamette University’s Hudson Hall, 900 State St. Salem, Oregon. The concert will be directed by Willamette Emeritus Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Wallace Long, who retired from the university in the Spring of 2020. This concert is FREE and open to the public. Mike loved Star Wars and had a garage full of unopened original Star Wars memorabilia. To honor his passion, the concert will be the premiere of the Mike Bergh Star Wars Requiem, composed by Dr. John Peel, Emeritus Professor of Composition, and three Willamette music alumni: Darren McCoy WU ‘06, Matt Sazima WU ‘13, Derek Sup WU ‘13. The concert is the brainchild of Nick Newman WU ‘16, a close friend to Mike who, upon hearing of his untimely passing, felt compelled to remember him and his many gifts. Please join us to enjoy live choral music and to take the opportunity to remember Mike and wonderful sense of humor, driving passion for excellence, and kind heart.
