Acknowledging Vasanta Panchami

Contact: Chaplain Ineda Adesanya

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life acknowledges the Hindu celebration of Vasanta Panchami today.

Vasanta Panchami is celebrated in Northern India and marks the shift from winter into spring.

As the temperature gets warmer, “the mustard crop blooms flowers of yellow, a color that symbolizes knowledge, light, energy, prosperity, and peace.” Two goddesses are worshiped, Saraswati (represents learning) and Lakshmi (represents wealth).
