Salem campus celebrates Pride Week Oct. 16–20

The Gender Resource and Advocacy Center is thrilled to announce our celebration of Pride Week on Willamette’s Salem campus, which will take place from Oct. 16–20!

Why October?

October holds special significance for our Pride celebrations, as it coincides with National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11 and with LGBTQ+ History Month throughout October. Coming Out Day is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals to share their authentic selves with their communities. By holding our Pride Week in October, we align our efforts with this important day and month. We celebrated Coming Out Day last week with 50 students and staff at Goudy. Bon Appétit’s new pastry chef, Megan Moss, provided some cute rainbow cookies for us. Many students and at least two staff were spotted dressed like their pride flags during lunch.

What to Expect:

During Pride Week, the Gender Resource and Advocacy Center, the Renjen Center for Equity & Empowerment, and the Bistro will host a fantastic lineup of events and activities. You can see the full schedule of events at the link below. Highlights include tie dye and flag making, an opportunity for queer and trans BIPOC students, staff & faculty to be in community, a story time with cookies and cocoa to heal your Queer inner child, the first “GRAC Sexplanations”, and, of course, an open mic night to close out the week.

Join us as we celebrate love and the beauty of our community. We look forward to your enthusiastic participation and support as we continue to promote an inclusive campus for everyone.
