Overview

An exchange program available to both male and female students, Ewha Womans University was founded in 1866 and is one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. Ewha is responsible for many "firsts" in Korean history: the first female doctor, the first female lawyer, and the first female justice on the Constitutional Court, and the first female Prime Minister of Korea are all Ewha graduates. The university is located 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea. Seoul has a population of approximately 11 million people. Ewha, with an enrollment of over 24,000, students it is the largest women's university in the world with excellent academic programs and facilities. Minimum GPA required by host program: 2.5 GPA.

In the pursuit of globalization, professionalism and scientific of education, Ewha offers a variety of high-quality courses in a wide various fields including studies on Asia and Korea. Some of the strongest fields at Ewha include international studies, women’s studies, Korean studies, North Korean studies, and Asian studies. The undergraduate college offers programs in business, communications and media studies, economics, kinesiology and sports studies, history, natural sciences, politics, public health, psychology, music, dance, art and design, and philosophy.

With 30% of each departments coursework being taught in English, there are many courses available to Willamette students. For coursework being taught in English follow this link to their English coursework listing. Select the academic term and click search. Use the sort features to view subjects of interest. Students may also take Korean Language coursework as a component of their studies at Ewha.

Housing

Students will live on campus in the Ewha-Samsung International House. Accommodations are typically a double room shared with another international student. Students eat their meals in one of the cafeterias located on Ewha's campus. Students can find information about housing costs on Ewha's International Programs Page. Programs are available during the fall semester, spring semester, or as a full year option.

Scholarships

Freeman-ASIA award:  Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Semester awards are up to $5,000 and academic year awards are up to $7,000.
