English Department students lead and participate in a wide range of activities both on and off the Willamette campus. They present at conferences, and they conduct poetry-writing workshops at the Oregon State Penitentiary. They publish their writing and travel throughout Oregon to take advantage of the state’s vibrant literary culture. They study abroad and pursue internships. They meet with visiting writers, they do research with faculty members, and they share their learning with other students via the Willamette Academy and the university’s Writing Center. They win grants and awards that enable them to pursue independent and collaborative projects.

The following pages offer a springboard into life as an English major outside the classroom.
