Opening Days Music Placement

New students may participate in individual times for placement in instrumental and voice ensembles, voice and piano lessons, and make arrangements for applied instrumental lessons in an Artist Associate's studio. Learn more about opportunities and find sign-up details on our Opening Days page.

Being a music major or minor is not required for participation in most performance groups. Students with any academic interest are welcome to sign-up for a placement time. Applied lessons are also open to all Willamette students.

Incoming students who are interested in a Music major or minor should also plan to attend the Musicianship Assessment. This is critical for determining your placement in the Musicianship sequence. Even if you're not sure about declaring, plan to take the assessment anyway!

A Cappella Ensembles

Early each semester, our three student a cappella ensembles, Headband, Uptop, and Tandem host auditions to recruit new members!
