Judy Gram will introduce our Spring 2021 Schedule. Becky Miller-Moe will introduce two novels for our class reads as well as a movie that, with the two novels, will create a discussion regarding our semester's theme of Collaboration and Adaptation.Kasia Quillan has been an ICL member since 2007. GwenEllyn and Dave will talk about the changes made to the Willamette Website, including changes to the ICL pages and a new menu system. Also, how to access the Membership Directory and how to find recordings of Zoom classes and older, in-person presentations.They will also discuss Zoom protocols and where to find things like “Thumbs Up”, and using Chat for Q&A. There will be time for Q&A. GwenEllyn Anderson has been an ICL member since 2017 and Dave MacMillan has been a member since 2012. |

| 10:00 AM-12:00 PM | "Freedom is Indivisible: Rudolf Hilferding's Correspondence with Karl Kautsky, Leon Trotsky, and Paul Hertz, 1902-1938," Dr. Bill Smaldone [Dave MacMillan], ZOOM  During the first four decades of the 20th century, Rudolf Hilferding was one of European socialism's leading thinkers and a major figure in German politics. His correspondence with some of the leading political figures of his day illuminates the contradictions of an era in which the socialist movement seemed poised to transform the world, but then went down to stunning defeat.Bill Smaldone is the E. J. Whipple Professor of History at Willamette. He has published several books on the history of European socialism, including most recently European Socialism: a concise history with documents (2nd edition, 2019) and, with Marc Blum of the University of Kentucky, Louisville, a two volume collection of documents titled: Austro-Marxism: The Ideology of Unity. His volume on Hilferding's correspondence will be published by Brill in 2021. |
