Past Productions Education FAQs
Theatre 33, in residence at Willamette University, is a new play development company that helps Oregon/NW playwrights develop their new scripts from an initial workshop performance (lights, sound, props, set, costumes, and fully blocked with scripts in hand), to a world premiere full production.
We are Oregon centric as evidenced by our name. Oregon was the 33rd state to join the union.
Beginning our 5th season, we have produced 14 new plays by 13 different Oregon Playwrights, many featuring Oregon themes. And, we are adding to that total. This season, 4 or our 5 productions will feature new plays by Oregon authors, and all 5 plays are set in Oregon and Washington State.
- We partner with local business leaders to make theatre accessible to foster youth
- Last year we offered 22 paid university theatre student internships in all phases of theatre production
- Our admission fee is donation based to accommodate youth and lower-income patrons
- We offer a nurturing, collaborative atmosphere to help authors refine their new scripts. They attend rehearsals and audience talkbacks, receiving valuable feedback from audiences and professional actors and directors.
- Our audiences are part of the creative process, helping authors improve their plays through comments offered at talkbacks after each performance.
